Volunteering & Parent Involvement

VOLUNTEERING AT ZANKER SCHOOL

Volunteers play a key role in Milpitas Unified School District and at Zanker School. They provide essential support to our public schools by mentoring and tutoring students, helping in classrooms and school activities, and helping raise much needed for schools. To join our district, please complete our Volunteer Instructions and Form.

Fingerprinting is required if you are applying to volunteer in any position in which you could be left alone with students such as:

• Chaperoning field trips
• Volunteering in classrooms or the school library
• Supporting PTA events during the school day

Please schedule an appointment with a fingerprinting agency and take this form to them. 

We need parent volunteers all year long.

NOTES FOR THE 2026-2027 SCHOOL YEAR 

PREVIOUSLY APPROVED VOLUNTEERS WITH CLEARED Fingerprinting: 

• Go online and fill out the VOLUNTEER FORM
• Upload current TB assessment,
• Complete the Keenan Training video for the year. Directions are on the form. This training needs to be completed every year prior to volunteering. 
• Once you have completed the training, you will need to download your certificate of completion and upload it to the Google Form.
• Fingerprinting does not need to be done again.

NEW VOLUNTEERS: 

• Go online and fill out the VOLUNTEER FORM
• Complete the Keenan Training video –  This training needs to be completed every year prior to volunteering. 
• Upload current ID,
• Upload the proof of negative TB,
• Upload fingerprinting clearance (FBI and DOJ required),
• Upload certificate of completion for the Keenan Training.

SCHOOL SITE LEVEL PARENT/COMMUNITY COMMITTEES

School Site Council (SSC)

Site based decision making committee. 

Monthly meeting that includes the CBAC and DELAC representatives.

English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC)

Site based committee serving our English Language Learners.  Reports to SSC. 

DISTRICT LEVEL PARENT/COMMUNITY COMMITTEES

Community Board Advisory Council (CBAC)

Monthly meeting led by the Superintendent discussing and making decisions about district wide issues. Reports to SSC. Please contact Mrs. Patel if you are interested in serving as our Zanker CBAC Representative.

District English Learner Advisory Committee (DELAC)

Monthly meeting led by the Learning and Development Department focused on serving our English Language Learners.
